Yin after childbirth

Post by triki »

I understand that the hormone relaxin is present in a woman's body for about 6 weeks after childbirth. Since Yin Yoga works so deeply on the ligaments and joints I am wondering if it is safe for a woman to do a Yin Yoga practice during that period when relaxin is present in her body. Could the Yin practice be damaging during that time? Please comment and explain. Thank you

Hi Triki

There is a whole section here on the forum for Yin Yoga and pregnancy, both before and after delivery. You may want to peruse several of the posts found here.

Also, in my book The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga I talk about the post-partum period, but this one particular thread also has some good information for you.

If after reading all this you still have questions, please let us know.
Cheers
