'weight bearing" exercise = piesoelectric stimulation?

This discussion group is for questions about Yin Yoga and other body parts, such as shoulders, feet, wrists, etc.... Also, this is the place to discuss various conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis, etc.

'weight bearing" exercise = piesoelectric stimulation?

Post by Cinza »

.. if, when doing postures, the bones and tissues are making electric charges that encourage bone building rather than deterioration...

can i tell people this really is the same thing that is happening in "weight bearing" exercise we do to maintain bone integrity?

Thank you.

Weight bearing exercises

Certainly! Standing postures in yoga are great for stimulating bone growth, especially in the legs and hips. Doctors will often recommend walking to their patients who have osteoporosis because walking will stimulate the bones. The most common area where osteoporosis occurs, however, is in the lower back, and yin yoga is much better at stimulating the bones there (Sphinx and Seal especially).
