Yin and Scerloderma

Post by yaelflusberg »

I have a client with scerloderma (no known cure, results from overproduction of collagen, and involve the hardening and tightening of the skin and connective tissues). Wondering if anyone here has thoughts about whether yin yoga would be beneficial -- or harmful. Thanks!

I am not aware of any studies about this, so we can only speculate, but given what we know about scleroderma, yin yoga should be good for it - as long as the student goes gently and pays close attention to the results. Over time, maybe the holds can be longer and the postures deeper, but only if there is no adverse effects. So, trial and error?

There is a web site dedicated to yoga and scleroderma that you may want to visit: www.yogaforscleroderma.com .

Please let us know how it goes.
Cheers
