Qi Gong and Yoga

I'm really interested in the intersection between qi gong and hatha yoga. I was wondering if anyone knew of some good resources (aside from yin yoga) for studying this topic. I'm particularly interested in learning ways of incorporating qi gong into my yoga practice. I'd like to make my yoga practic...

Prolonged Sitting

What's a good 30 to 60 minute yin routine for countering the effects of prolonged sitting? When I'm working, I usually have to sit at a desk or table for hours at a time. Naturally, my body hates this. How can I make it happy again?

Morning Routine

What's a good 30 to 60 minute yin routine for the morning, right after getting out of bed? My body's particularly stiff at this time of day.

Dynamic vs. Static Stretching

Can anyone provide some clarity around the seemingly endless dynamic vs. static stretching debate? It appears that current research heavily favors dynamic stretching over static stretching in terms of effectiveness and safety and that while static stretching may be beneficial, it is unnecessary in m...

Thanks Bernie. I was just curious to see if there were recommended sequences for each major meridian that could be rotated to form a comprehensive practice (similar to vinyasa yoga). I'll continue to explore the resources you suggested. The book Insight Yoga looks promising in this regard.

Sequencing for a Comprehensive Practice

I would love any suggestions for sequencing a comprehensive Yin practice for a daily routine of one to two hours. For example, would you recommend rotating certain set sequences (e.g., a hip series, spine series, etc.) on a daily basis? Also, is it necessary to balance our Yin practice with a Yang (...

Great. Thanks for all of your feedback. My knee does float a little, so I'm going to try resting the other foot on it. By clasping the elbows over the head, do you mean releasing the held foot and stretching both arms overhead with hands holding opposing elbows/upper arms to deepen the stretch in th...

Thanks. I think I got it. Is it like this? Sort of like a Half Saddle starting on your side with a spinal twist (back moving toward floor) and both knees bent heading in the same direction?

Hi Bernie, Thank you for your feedback. I saw your Saddle Explained video right after I posted my comment. I've been practicing with Paul's DVD and had gotten frustrated with Saddle and Half Saddle in his Spine Series, which I really enjoyed up to that point. I will experiment with the alternative p...

Saddle Pose

I really struggle with Saddle Pose and Half Saddle Pose (due to stress on my knees and feet). Does anyone have any suggestions for modifications and/or variations? Also, any suggestions for alternative poses and preparatory poses? I don't have a lot of props for my home practice (just a few blocks a...
