Paying attention

Usually pay attention is about something driven by some desire, often wanting to know something. Meditation would be the paying attention to absolutely Nothing/Everything.

Boredom

I like Meher Baba's definition of boredom also: Boredom is the clamor of unfulfilled desires. In any case, for our purposes here lack of paying attention is better.

Timers again

I should have said the tape should go over the edge where the "speaking" holes are, covering the "speaker" holes and the thingie designed to hang the timer if necessary. That makes it much less noisy.

I forgot to mention that it is loud, but 3 pieces of duct tape over the entire side that has the grid hole will solve that problem. The two costs about $8.

Staying in the moment

I suppose that this is a really very personal discovery, but I just wanna share with you-all how happy I am to have discovered that staying in the moment is a very excellent boredom eradicator. In the past I found doing my hour long session to be drudgery because I was always looking at my watch and...

Timers

I want to recommend this timer (2 pack). I have been doing yin yoga for several years now, and keeping track of the time has been a problem. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TMPRG8D/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It fits very nicely into one's hand. It has only three buttons so...

Ayurveda

Dear Bernie,

What is your favorite Ayurvedic site? I am not a beginner, but I am also not advanced. I am sort of a beginning intermediate.

Sincerely,

Roger

Necessity is the Mother of Paradigm Nimbleness

Necessity is the mother of invention. Necessity is also the mother of paradigm open mindedness. It was pain, suffering, and illness that forced me out of my allegedly healthy version of the standard American diet and into being a health radical that abandoned mainstream thinking. This is why I eat a...

Dear Bernie,

It matters to me what you do in your daily practice: What poses do you do, and for how long? Do you do your practice everyday? How long does it take you to get through your entire sequence? Are there other practices that you do, like fasting or a particular diet? What do you think of shivambu? Is th...

Yin and Yang

I forgot to mention that I do yang yoga poses also as part of my yin yoga session because my life itself is sort of placid (yin). I realize that compared with resistance exercise this is still very yin, but every little bit counts. Today is my yang day, and I will do numerous body weight exercises t...

Thank you very much for your reply. This is exactly what I was hoping for. "Never tried or read such recommendation. Can you elaborate?" I presume by the above that you are talking about the 4:00 A.M. time for yoga. I have read it many places. About the yin/yang bit, I am 50% with you, not that I am...

Benefit as a function of time

Dear Everyone, Your personal opinions and observations matter to me. But please clarify if your opinions are based upon personal experience or what is supposed to be correct or however you came to your opinion. Say I allocate 10 minutes per day to the Butterfly. Is 5 minutes in the morning and 5 min...

Yes

Tricking is very yang. My son needs all of the yang that he can get. He even admits that he is too yin. He sleeps way too long everyday, etc. So to compensate or adjust he does tricking and lots of weights.

Tricking and Yin Yoga

This is tricking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRvrq9lKZlQ

Apparently the butterfly pose is common knowledge among these people. Wonders never cease.
