Bernie Clark ERYT 500
Vancouver, B.C.
Bernie has been teaching yoga and meditation since 1998. He has a bachelor degree in Science from
the University of Waterloo and combines his intense interest in yoga with an understanding of the scientific
approach to investigating the nature of things. His ongoing studies have taken him deeply inside mythology,
comparative religions and psychology. All of these avenues of exploration have clarified his understanding
of the ancient Eastern practices of yoga and meditation. His teaching, workshops and books have helped
many students broaden their own understanding of health, life and the source of true joy.
Bernie's yoga practice encompasses the hard, yang-styles, such as Ashtanga and Power Yoga, and the softer,
yin-styles, as exemplified in Yin Yoga. His meditation experience goes back to the early 80's when he
first began to explore the practice of Zen meditation. During those days, while he struggled with the
conflict between practice and theory, Bernie also worked as a member of the executive team of one of
Canada's oldest and largest Hi-Technology companies.
Where is Bernie Teaching right now?
Currently Bernie is teaching at Yin Yoga at
Semperviva Yoga in Vancouver. The
Yin Yoga classes are held Sunday nights at
6:00 pm and Thursday nights at 7:15 pm. The Sunday class is followed by an hour long meditation class. He is also
leading two Hatha classes each week [Thursdays at 5:45 pm, and Saturdays at 9:30 am]
and a Vinyasa Flow class [Wednesdays at 7:30 pm].

Jason Hagemeister Vancouver, B.C.
Jason began practicing yoga in the early 90's in an effort to find some balance in his busy life and law
practice. In the years to come the balance would shift until he replaced his legal career with those
things in life closer to his heart. Jason maintained a steady practice in a variety of types of yoga -
including Kundalini, Hatha, Bikram's and Power Yoga. In 2001 Jason met Kelly and they would go on to
marry and open the doors to Flow Yoga Studio. We all have our strengths and weaknesses and Jason
emphasises that yoga should be less concerned with self-improvement than with self-acceptance. Jason
and Kelly have developed their own version of 'Flow' yoga which is firmly grounded in the Ashtanga
tradition while incorporating what they consider to be the best aspects from the other traditions
they have experienced

Catherine Merlin Vancouver, B.C.

with Grant Couture from Wandering Yogis. As by magic, all fell into place in her life. She started teaching
four years ago to respond to her need to share her discovery: the inspiration that flows in and enables her
to embrace life fully.
Always learning and deepening her practice, one of her workshops was with Bernie Clark where Catherine
enjoyed the deeper connection and understanding she felt she acquired with her body during Yin yoga classes.
Now she encourages her students to try and include Yin yoga classes to deepen their weekly yoga practice.

Josee Fontaine Squamish, B.C.
Josee Fontaine, Creator/owner of Shala Yoga in beautiful Squamish, BC.
Life, mountain and ocean enthusiast, and Yoga Teacher certified with Yoga Alliance (ERYT-200, RYT-500), I teach Hatha, Yin and Meditation
from the heart, wishing to help all of us awaken to our highest potential and find freedom from the busy anxious mind. When slowing down, we become aware, sharper. We can observe ourselves, our impact on the planet, on others and on our own lives, therefore we can change our ways. We heal. We act. We flow. We create. We live. We transform. We detach from our stories to reconnect with our true nature. A higher state of being and consciousness.
Of course, some of the side effects of the practice are expanding prana (life force, energy), focus, strength and flexibility, rejuvenation of the body, health, true happiness and much more. Enjoy the journey! Namaste.

Prasar (Robert) Smith ERYT200 Victoria, B.C.
I am a certified with Yoga Alliance, having completed my teacher training @ Moksana Yoga Studio
and Yin Teacher Training, with Bernie Clark. What brought me to Yoga was, at first, a way to heal and help
repair my body from 30 years of distance running. I discovered that Yoga presented, not only a physical
practice, but one that enriched my spiritual awareness.
In my classes, whether it be Yin or Hatha, I try to integrate pranayama and mediation along with challenging
poses in a fun dynamic class that it suitable for all levels. My teachers include Bernie Clark, Elizabeth
Peckham, Padma Nair and Vishvi Ji. I have spent 5 months in India deepening my personal practice, which I
hope will expand my teaching abilities. The styles of yoga that have influenced me are Yin, Sivananada and
Akhanda.

Angie Ackerman Sherwood Park
In December 2006 Angie tried a YIN yoga class in Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam. It was everything she loves about
yoga - floor postures, long passive holds, specific to hips, and especially no YANG (strength or sweat).
She returned home to Edmonton & could only find one YIN class in the city & it was not timely or close by.
Despite that, every Wednesday she made the trek into town for Kyle's Yin class. It was worth every
inconvenience to get there & back. She then researched training so she could share this incredible
style of yoga with others. After a weekend with Paul Grilley she started teaching YIN at Yoga for
Today in Sherwood Park
The YIN classes she teaches are true YIN with no Yang postures or flow. Angie makes it clear to all of her
student's that as wonderful as YIN may be it is a compliment practice to the Yang yoga & should not be one's
only Yoga. She also considers it to be advanced & therefore does not allow beginners in her class.

Cathy Keenan Toronto, Ontario
Cathy has been practicing and studying yoga for over 10 years. Her introduction to yoga came about by chance when her father (an ordained Buddhist priest) painted The Yoga Sanctuary just before their doors opened in 1999.
After completing her yoga teacher training in 2003, Cathy continued to seek out the teachings of many internationally respected practitioners. It wasn't until studying with Paul Grilley that she took a serious interest in learning more about acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In pursuit of a deeper understanding of the mind/body connection and an interest in holistic therapies Cathy has completed over 2600hrs of study in acupuncture and TCM and continues to study with many inspiring practitioners. Cathy has completed Bernie Clark's 50 hour Yin Yoga teacher training in Vancouver.
Balancing an acupuncture practice with her teaching curriculum has been an amazing learning experience but nothing has taught Cathy more about the essence of yoga and being mindful than her 2 1/2 year old son, Ethan. Cathy enjoys threading her love and knowledge of TCM into her yoga classes to offer students a unique, refreshing and integrated practice

Maureen Rae Toronto, Ontario
Maureen began her yoga journey at age 13 when first introduced to 'stretching' as part of her school physical fitness program.
The key fit the lock! ... the door opened ... and the rest is history!
She is a well-known international presenter and has presented annually at Canada's premier CanFitPro Conference since its inception
17 years ago. Maureen's main yoga teacher is Erich Schiffmann of Santa Monica, California. Angela Farmer, of Greece, and T.K.V. and
Kausthaub Desikachar, both of India, have been instrumental in broadening the scope of her yoga studies.
Maureen’s Yin studies, with Paul Grilley where he so diligently explains his intelligent approach to skeletal variation, have cast new light
onto the physical aspects of teaching asana. Every body IS different! And Yin Yoga honours that.

Larry St. Aubin RYT 500 Toronto, Ontario
My yoga practice is a balance of Yin and Yang. After a steady Yang practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga for 3 years, I realized a
Restorative session was needed. During my Advanced Yoga Teacher Training, I studied Yin yoga with Cathy Keenan. Now my weekly
practice is a combination of Ashtanga, Restorative and Yin. The Yin has been particularly warming and beneficial. This approach is
reflected in my multi-discipline style of teaching – adapting the style, pose and sequence to my student’s needs.
My Yin Yoga practice has evolved with my Karma Yoga. I volunteer to help abused and unwanted dogs find a new, loving adoptive home.
I found that meditation and Yin yoga helps to calm and relax the dog when she first comes into my care. The dog responds to the quiet,
gentle stillness of the Yin pose. I relax into a Butterfly or half-Dragonfly, resting my head softly on a little breathing body.

Ann-Marie Ahye Toronto, Ontario
An intuitive feeling as a child revealed that there was much more to life and to who we
are than meets the eye. Instructed by what was originally a self-taught practice I have
learnt so much from what comes through me. While my initial Yoga Teacher Training
was in a Yang oriented style, I always taught at a slow to moderate pace with more of a
Yin attitude of approach. So, coming to Yin Yoga was very much like a ‘duck to water’
experience for me.
My own practice and inquiry which began in 1984 have been more recently influenced
by teachings from Richard Miller, Angela Farmer and Sarah Powers. I teach Mindful
Yoga & Meditation which includes Yin Yoga as a significant component. I have taught
in Toronto for 11 years and am a guest teacher at Rancho La Puerta, Mexico. I also
lead an annual week-long Retreat in Tobago amongst other Workshops and Retreats
locally and abroad. I have created a Mindful Yoga DVD and a Guided Relaxation CD
‘Travelling Inward’.

Stephanie Guitar Fredericton
My personal passion for Yoga found its way in to my teaching arena after injuring myself during a yoga practice. I was studying Massage
Therapy at the time, and completely immersed in anatomy and physiology, but still never put the pieces together. Then
during my 200 hour Kripalu Yoga teacher training, we studied the Anatomy for Yoga DVD by Paul Grilley, and I discovered
skeletal variation. Since that time, I have spent 250 hours in study with Paul & Suzee Grilley, and most recently trained
with Master Paulie Zink. The power of Yin Yoga has literally changed my life, and through the past several years of sharing
this art with others, I have witnessed the evolution of Yoga in the Maritimes.
I have been teaching Yoga for over ten years now, and have been amazed at the natural transition to a Yin practice that not only my body
has enjoyed, but those of my students. In the summer of 2011 I will be continuing my studies with Paul & Suzee Grilley in their
100 hour Chakra & Meridian Theory program, as well as furthering my studies with Master Paulie Zink. Other influential teachers
of mine include Krishna Das, Sharon Salzberg, and Jillian Pransky.

Bette Mueller Moose Jaw
I began practicing yoga while on a quest for flexibility after years of running. The classes and home practice evolved to include study and teaching. When I retired from a career in adult education, I took up teaching yoga and fitness for older adults.
I am certified with Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation to teach Group Fitness, Exercise for Older Adults and Fitness Yoga. I have completed several training events with Maureen Rae of Maureen Rae Yoga Studio in Toronto. I completed Bernie Clark's 50 hour Yin Yoga teacher training in August, 2011. On average I teach 200 hours of yoga per year.
I offer a blend of Yin and Vinyasa Flow, a Yin Yang Fusion. My students range in age from late teens to older adults and the Yin poses are popular with everyone. We all thank Bernie!

After over 4 years of being a yoga student, I took my first teacher training in 1999 at the Sivananda
yoga ashram in the Bahamas, and returned in 2008 to do the advanced training. I have attended workshops, trainings and
conferences with teachers such as Rod Stryker, Rodney Yee, Shiva Rea, Gurmuk Kaur Khalsa, Anna Forrest, Michael Stone,
Ram Dass, Bhagavan Dass, Baron Baptise, and so on... One of the most valuable teacher trainings I have had was with
Bernie Clark near Whistler, B.C. Learning to slow down has been the greatest tool for all my yoga classes. I teach
many types of classes from hot to Sivananda to vinyasa flow, but I must say the yin yoga is my favorite. A beautiful
blend of meditation and posture.

Patricia Dewar PH.D. ERYT-500 Saskatoon
Patricia’s lifelong interest has been in studying and teaching different body modalities that view the body as a vehicle of
consciousness. After graduating from the Yoga Room’s Advanced Study Program in Berkeley, California
she continued to explore yoga which emphasizes "working from the inside out, and from the outside in."
After experiencing several workshops based on Thomas Myers "Anatomy Trains," Patricia focused many of her yoga classes on
exploring the inner body through the felt sense of balancing the different myo-fascia lines in asana practice. The next
obvious step was to delve beneath the muscles to an awareness of deep connective tissue and joints by practicing Yin Yoga
as a complimentary style of yoga. Recently, she certified with Bernie Clark. In addition she
is a certified as a Relax an Renew Trainer with Judith Lasater, and Critical a Alignment
trainer (level 4) with Gert van Leeuwen.

Sandrine Martin Paris
In 2007, after 10 years of being a dancer, an educational kinesiologist and a teacher for 3 years or so I
started wondering which practice would help me increase my personal journey of my body and mind. And this is when Yoga came!!
In 2009, I went to Vancouver to complete my Yin Teacher Training with Bernie Clarck and it was the most wonderful
experience for me.
After this, to further expand my practice I went to London and completed another Teacher Training
with Sarah Powers in 2010, and since then I have followed Simon Low’s workshops to further deepen my journey.
Today I am very grateful to the universe and my teachers who have helped me to not just teach Yin Yoga but keep me
connected to my passion and share this gift with my students every day.

Cecile Roubaud Annecy & Paris
Yoga is a lifetime journey, teaching us step by step the art of "sama" which is about finding balance between the body,
mind and spirit. I started Yoga learning Hatha Yoga in France. It's in Mexico, under the guidance of teacher Amado Cavazos,
that I fell in love with the Ashtanga Yoga practice. I have since had the opportunity to study while travelling with
internationally renowned ashtangis such as : Michael Gannon, Sharat Rangaswamy, Danny Paradise, Baptiste Marceau, Rolf
Naujokat , Chuck and Maty and many more.
While practicing the very Yang Ashtanga style of Yoga, I found myself in deep need of balancing this practice with different
spiritual paths. I have since started practicing Vipassana meditation and a more gentle yoga such as Yin Yoga. I had the great
chance to train with Bernie Clark. Through my teaching, I share my experience of Yoga as an integral and balanced approach
to reach wellbeing and inner peace. I am dedicated to helping my student to find and develop their own great potential and power.

Erinbell Fanore Berlin
I have been practicing yoga for over fourteen years. I fell in love with yoga: with standing still and sweating, with not moving
but moving, with needing nothing but my body, mind, breath, with becoming more and more and always more aware of myself and of
life. I was first attracted to the physical side of yoga and how through the asana practice my busy mind and heart can find
peace and stillness (even if that peace and stillness doesn’t always last long). With time, as my practice evolves and deepens,
I am finding that it is also slowing down. I am drawn more and more to Yin Yoga, to stillness, to holding postures and watching how
they work on the body, mind and spirit.
In 2007, I became a certified yoga teacher training with Dave Curtis in Cork, Ireland and began immediately teaching yoga full time
on Gozo. In June 2010, I did a 100 hour training with Paul and Suzee Grilley on Yin Yoga and Anatomy. Since September 2009 I have
been enjoying teaching yin and hatha classes in Berlin.

After practicing Tae Kwon Do for more than 10 years I had to quit because of too many injuries. I discovered Yoga
in 2003 and realized it had a healing effect on my body. I wanted to pass on what Yoga did for me so I did my Hatha Yoga
Teacher Training at the Institut fuer Yoga und Gesundheit in Cologne in 2006/2007. Since then I have been doing workshops
and Teacher Trainings with teachers from all over the world. Teaching only yang orientated yoga styles for the last few
years I really found what I was looking for when I discovered Yin Yoga. I did the Teacher Training with Paul and Suzee
Grilley in Hamburg in 2010 and it was the most wonderful experience for me. The Yin Yoga practice made me feel so easy
and full of happiness. In my studio I am now teaching a variety of of yin and yang classes hoping to make Yoga accessible
to everybody respecting the needs of each individual.

Yukinobu Ota Amagasaki - Hyogo
As a personal trainer and martial artist, I met Yoga in Whistler and Vancouver, BC. Practicing various styles of Yoga (Hatha, Jivamukti, Yin, Raja) under masters such as Bernie Clark, Tina James, and Nakul Kapur helped me feeling a strong connection between Yoga and Zen principles.
Now, as a certified RYT-200 yoga teacher, I teach Hatha, Yin, pilates and weight training in Osaka and Hyogo, Japan.
Combining all the science and traditions, I aim to guide students to balance their physical, mental, and spiritual
talent by continuous practice and effort in the quiet, attentive manner.

Hannah-Marie Martin Malta
Hannah began practising yoga and Buddhist meditation in 2000 as a means to introducing calm and balance into a
hectic British lifestyle. After completing the Yoga Alliance certification programme, Hannah was drawn to studying
Yin Yoga specifically, as a means of easing the joint stiffness experienced after a combination of long-distance
running and long meditation sittings.
Hannah now practices and teaches yoga centred around the complementary principles of Yin Yoga and Vipassana
meditation techniques. Hannah's classes focus on encouraging balance, harmony and ease in lifestyles, and
yoga classes are tailored in order to meet these aims. She hopes to raise awareness of Yin exercise principles,
whilst making yoga accessible to all.

I have been studying yoga intensely since 1996 and the more I study the more Yoga seems to expend and unfold. Different styles offer diferent
approaches, and with an open mind we can always find one that will suit us at any given time and need. The main purpose in my classes is to reduce
constriction, physical, mental or otherwise, and create a feeling of presence and well being that can maybe be carried out of the class and into
the world.
I studied Classical Yoga with Tersa Caldas, Centered Yoga with Dona Holleman and Yin Yoga with Paul and Suzee Grilley, and am co-founder of the
YogaGarden studio in Amsterdam.

Nienke de Heer Sneek, Nederland
I studied voice on the conservatory and worked as a vocal teacher for 16 years.
After this period of time, teaching 35 students each week began to drain me emotionally and physically so I went looking for a different way of working with people.
I still work as a vocal teacher, fewer students, teach Yin Yoga, and perform as a singer.
I started Yoga in 2009. From the beginning I was very active and followed Yoga classes around 3 to 4 times a week.
Amongst the various disciplines I practised, I liked Hatha and Yin the most; especially to vary between them.
In may 2011 I completed level 1 and 2; the first Yin Yoga Teacher Training in the Netherlands.
I hope to help people discover for themselves the physical, psychological and emotional effects yoga can have and to find wholeness and balance in their lives.

Jose de Groot Amsterdam and Barcelona
Jose was inspired by yoga's healing effects on a physical, psychological and emotional level. After a Yoga Teacher Training
in 2006, she started teaching but not until Jose took her first Yin Yoga class did she realize what her true calling was.
Amazed by its softening, calming and deep opening effects on all levels, Jose started to integrate more and more Yin into
her own practice and teachings, until finally teaching complete Yin classes since 2007. She deepened her knowledge of Yin
Yoga and anatomy mainly with Paul Grilley and also Sarah Powers; moreover meditation styles like Kriya Vajra Yoga and
Vipassana influence Jose´s teachings.
Jose guides her students in a clear, direct and compassionate way, adapting the
practice where necessary to the specific personal needs of each student. Jose offers classes, workshops, retreats and
trainings in Holland, Spain, Finland and France.

way Yoga has helped me, then this teaching journey is a huge fullfilment”. She taught at a large Yoga studio

Nona Smiles Vladivostok
In summer 2009 I was travelling in Thailand with the purpose to get knowledge in practicing new ways of Yoga, such as Yin Yoga,
Detox Yoga, Yoga Asana. I've got permission from Paul Grilley to start developing Yin Yoga in
Vladivostok (the far-eastern part of Russia). With years of life and practice I understood that it's such a big thing "to
overcome yourself", and what it means to change yourself in better side. I started doing Yoga in February, 2006.
In the beginning of 2010 I wrote my own book about Yin Yoga. That book includes two parts: informative and practical ones.
Informative part tells why is necessary to train yourself in Yin Yoga Level, what positive effects it can give to your
body, and what healthful work your ligaments can get. Practical part includes 26 postures. Each asana has detailed
description and picture (or 2-3 pictures). As bonus, you can read about usual and medical effects you get after doing Yin Yoga.
Nona travels to teach, gives classes, workshops, corporate events and teacher trainings.

Victor Chng Singapore
Victor has been practicing and teaching yoga for the past six years. He drew his influence from various styles
of yoga from classical to modern yoga systems. His style is goal oriented and precise. He believes a complete
practice requires exploring both the polarity of Yin and Yang yoga to bring oneself back to "centre". Only
by experiencing the two extremes will one be able to come back to the "middle". Therefore, Victor emphasizes
on being awareness of the changes that takes place throughout the practice and being in the moment.
Victor met Paul Grilley in 2004 Dec and has completed a teacher training with Paul
on Yin Yoga. Paul has given Victor his full support to teach Yin Yoga in his own capacity. Victor holds
gratitute to his teacher on giving him permission to teach Yin Yoga. Since 2005, Victor has been teaching
Yin Yoga in Singapore and China.

Dharamchari Sudaka Valencia, Spain
I started practicing yoga in 1987 as a high school student and went on to do Iyengar yoga teacher Training after University in Leeds, UK.
After a year in Thailand, attending some Vipassana courses, I developed a strong affinity with meditation. I have always felt that
body-work, and meditation are deeply interwoven practices. Discovering Yin yoga via a yoga buddy in 2002 I took to this approach
with much enthusiasm, seeing a very obvious and clear demonstration of what I always felt to be the case.
I was fortunate then to go on and do some workshops with Paul Grilley and Sarah Powers to help develop and give confidence in teaching
this method. I teach around Valencia, mainly in Spanish. In my classes, which are largely based on the Dynamic yoga form
(Godfri Devereux) I blend a more Yin approach. In retreat and workshop contexts the Yin yoga poses provide an easy gateway to
experiencing oneself more deeply and reaching into those nooks and crannies other forms of yoga simply cannot reach.

style of teaching is a combination of Vipassana/Mindfulness and Yin Yoga. I consider every position to be a
meditation-position. I focus on the body and the sensations of the body. I don't speak too much in classes other
then helping students to come back into the body, into the presence. Its like a 1.5 hour long guided meditation.
I teach yin several time a week in different studios in Stockholm. Besides that I work as a freelance journalist

Regular yoga practise develops our awareness within and increases our ability to live in and appreciate the moment fully.
We start to realise the subtleties within and notice detail that we may never have paid attention to before. We learn to
really listen to and hear ourselves. We begin to live our life in better harmony with our needs and surroundings. I teach
Yin and Hatha Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation. I aim to guide students to feel effects of poses for themselves and to
develop an inner understanding and knowledge of how their own bodies work. I have studied with, amongst others, Paul
Grilley and Maarten Vermaase.

First introduced to yoga in New Zealand in 1995, I have practiced and studied different traditions of yoga in
Canada, India and Japan. I am now based in Zurich, Switzerland since leaving Tokyo (Japan) where I taught
Hatha Yoga (Sivananda) and Yin Yoga at Yoga Tree, Pema, the Canadian Embassy and privately. With a background
in psychology, I am infinitely inspired by how the practical and ancient tradition of yoga offers practitioners
a means to heal and grow. Yoga connects us with every aspect of life, helping us to appreciate life the way it
is... moment by moment. In my classes, I aim to create an atmosphere where students can awaken to their inner
teacher and create a flexible and peaceful body, mind and spirit through breathe awareness and energy flow.

Jude Murray (Mahashakti) Glasgow
I had my first experience of Hatha Yoga in about 1991and started teaching Yoga in 2004. I feel privileged to be able to share yoga with the people who come to my classes and workshops. Because I have also trained in massage and anatomy, I bring this into my teaching to guide students through a safe, yet personally challenging asana practice. More importantly, however, I hope to help people discover for themselves the transformational power of yoga and to find wholeness and balance in their lives.
I took my first yoga teaching diploma at the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres Ashram in Neyyar Dam, Kerala, South India in 2004 and returned to the UK to take a further Diploma in Astanga Yoga with Union Yoga in Edinburgh. I completed the British Wheel of Yoga Module in Yoga for Pregnancy in 2009 and a training intensive in Structural and Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy™ with Mukunda Stiles in 2010. I studied Yin Yoga and Yoga Anatomy with Paul Grilley in 2005 and have been teaching dedicated Yin Yoga classes and workshops since then. I am registered with the Independent Yoga Network .

Janice Wong Derbyshire, Glossop
During a class the body, breath and mind are sensitively integrated through fluid and rhythmic movements of
steady vinyasa flow and passive long held yin poses, linking breathing exercises, meditation and relaxation
practices. There is an emphasis on the internal energetic system, to nourish and bring vitality to the organ
and meridian systems. Thus allowing the body, breath, mind and spirit to connect and restoring a sense of well
being, balance and harmony. Experimenting with these "tools" of yoga will enhance our physical and mental
health, whilst cultivating a deeper sense of awareness and inquiry.
I am particularly fascinated by the energetic and internal systems of the body and how with the right tools
can bring a sense of "wholeness" and well-being. My practice of Yin Yoga, meditation and fascination with
Chinese medicine has led to further studies with Sarah and Ty Powers - both very inspirational teachers, whom
I have completed my teacher training in Yin Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation.

knowing the profound capacity of Yin to help us re-inhabit our bodies, to come home to ourselves, to listen deeply to our bodies
and respectively respond. I have now returned back to the UK and feel honoured and privileged to share the teachings I have
received at Shambhala Studios in Leigh on Sea and in Southend. I teach purely Yin Yoga and utilise soft music in my classes,
sharing information about Yin Yoga, Taoist philosophy and meridian theory interspersed with periods of silence.

has also completed a 100hr Yin Yoga Teacher Training with Paul and Suzee Grilley. She continues studying with the
Grilleys around the globe.

then current yoga practices. Yin Yoga not only influenced Sarah's self practice and teaching, but more importantly
her lifestyle choices too. She embraces the opportunity to share with others the lessons that she has learnt and to
encourage a healthy balance of both Yin and Yang in one's yoga practice and indeed life.
Sarah teaches both Hatha (Viniyoga inspired), and Yin yoga in London and can be booked for private, small groups or

Jess Glenny London
I offer yin (aka slow) yoga classes in south-east London. The classes started life as my own approach to yin yoga as taught by
Paul Grilley, and continue to incorporate many aspects of this style of yoga. Also central to my approach are bodymind
principles from Phoenix Rising yoga therapy and from somatic movement practices, so there is an emphasis on looking inwards
and fostering awareness of what’s happening in the whole person through the body. The classes are also informed by restorative
yoga, in which the parasympathetic nervous system is accessed and profound physical and emotional healing may occur.
I have been practising yoga since 1981 and teaching since 2003. I am a Registered Yoga Teacher, a Yoga Register Teacher,
a certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist and a Registered Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist.

Norman Blair 500 RYT London
I have been practicing yoga since early 1990s and teaching for more than ten years. I was introduced to yin yoga in 2001
and have been studying with Sarah Powers since 2002. I teach four weekly yin yoga classes and last Saturday of each month
there is a four hour session. Through significant periods of training with teachers such as Hamish Hendry, Richard Freeman
and Sarah Powers I have the Yoga Alliance 500 hour accreditation.
I believe that yoga is accessible to all of us and through regular practice we can experience profound changes in our
mind and body. My experience has taught me that yoga is an enjoyable way to release and make available energetic
potential to enhance our lives. Yoga can help us to become more flexible, physically stronger and improve our stamina,
focus and awareness.

Sonia Doubell London
Sonia fell in love with yoga ten years ago and has been teaching since 2004. She teaches a blend of traditional Hatha and Yin Yoga to
share a beautifully rejuvenating practice. Sonia’s classes take you on a journey of re-awakening, healing & freeing the body from
muscular stiffness. The heart of this practice is to find stillness, create space, and allow the necessary time in held postures to
replenish and stimulate the flow of chi through the body.
This is the perfect practice to complement more active forms of exercise such as running, swimming, football, weight lifting, etc.
It is also the ideal yoga for those suffering from all forms of chronic fatigue and living a high-paced stressful lifestyle. Yin
yoga brings yoga back to its meditative essence and has profound physical, emotional and energetic benefits.

Caroline Horrocks Norfolk & Norwich
Caroline has been practising yoga for 14 years and teaching for 5. She holds A C.H.Edu Dip.Yoga and is a Yoga
Register Teacher. Originally from a classical dance background, Caroline worked within the flowing yoga styles
yoga of Vinyasa and Ashtanga. In 2002 she discovered Yin yoga during a weekend workshop with Sarah Powers. The
weekend was a turning point in both her teacher training and her own practice. The attraction to the passive
Yin style was immediate. Here was a calmer and more reflective style which, complemented perfectly the more
active forms. Caroline went on to study the work of both Paul Grilley and his teacher Paulie Zink. Paulie has
been a particular inspiration and Caroline continues to study the medical aspects of QiGong as well as other
forms of energy practice.
The classes taught by Caroline combine both passive Yin and active Vinyasa (Yang) sequences to provide a
balanced practice cultivating breath, rhythmic movement with inner reflection and stillness. She believes
passionately that yoga is for everyone, whatever age or fitness level. Yoga has no end goal, the prize is
in the journey.

Mike Morris Nottingham
Mike’s love of Yoga began in the early 1970’s, when Yoga was much less popular than it is today. His current
style of choice is Yin Yoga. Mike’s discovery of the work of American Paul Grilley and of Yin Yoga has been
a revelation to him. Mike believes that a key aspect of Yin Yoga is that it is non-dogmatic in that it allows
the practitioner to access poses according to their unique individual structure – that it is simple and
direct and is accessible to everyone – and that it works. Yin Yoga is therefore a truly universal Yoga.
Mike also believes that in the fullness of time, Yin Yoga will gain increased recognition for the superb
practice that it is and will become as well known and as well practiced as such established and
distinguished Yang styles as Iyenga Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga.
Mike became a certified Yoga teacher in 2003. He is a Yoga Register Teacher (YRT) with the Independent
Yoga Network (IYN) and a member of the British Yoga Teachers Association (BYTA).

Catherine Evans South Nottinghamshire
Catherine has been teaching for 5 years and practicing yoga for 10 years. Her style owes much to Andy Thomas of
Shanti yoga where she trained initially and could best be described as classical indian . Her interest in yoga
began with the physical but now fully incorporates the mental and spiritual aspects. Enthusiasm for yin culminated
in completing teacher training with Paul Grilley in 2011 and she feels it is the perfect complement to a busy life
and compatible with all other styles of yoga. She is registered with IYN ( Independent Yoga Network) and BSY

of the Zen Buddhist Thich Nhat Hahn.
